"Where there is no vision, the people perish," Proverbs 29:18.
I thought the New Year would be a good time to remind everyone to take a moment to evaluate past publicity goals and set new ones.
For those of you unpublished or shopping your next novel, if you haven't updated your marketing and publicity plan lately, go take a look and see if you need to.
If your book is on the shelves, pull out your old proposal and review. Are there outlets you thought should have featured you or your novel, but didn't? Spend some time evaluating why so with your next novel, you'll have a better pitch.
Have you gone to Barnes and Nobles or local Christian bookstore and flipped through magazines and familiarized yourself with the new ones?
Have you recently checked for new blogs, online magazines, and/or Internet radio stations? Media changes.
Have you set budget for publicity this year? Worked out a timeline?
Do you know the publicist working on your upcoming release? If not, introduce yourself and let them know what you're up to.
This is a simple post really, but it's a great time of year re-evaluate and chart new courses.

Thanks. I really need to be concentrating on just that. It's difficult to find the time when your engulfed in your projects.
ReplyDeleteMost people think they have talent and they are passionate about their projects and forget that they won't sell themselves. You actually have to have a plan even after a book comes out, or a children's CD.
Which is what I'm working on at the moment. If you want to learn more about this project go to my blog.
