Saturday Poll

This week I read a statement that claimed last year more e-book sold than regular books. I don't know if that's true or not, but I thought I'd see what we're buying.

  1. I voted regular book from a bookstore! But, I also on the same day bought a friend's book online - it was self-published and only available online (and not an e-book, but a trade paperback)

  2. Glad to see the results as they are!

  3. Me, too, Gina, but I confess it's about 50-50 for me now between the bookstore and online purchases. Depends on the price and how quickly I want the book.

  4. Last year I purchased an Amazon Kindle 2 using my tax refund. Advantages: bought recently published books for $9.99 and no shipping; received books in minutes; found some books including older reference books for $3.00 or less; found thousands (literally!) of Kindle public domain books that can be downloaded from Amazon for free (I've done 12 already--including War and Peace--and am still perusing.); can make print as large or small as I want it, instantly; storage is MINIMAL; I carry my Kindle with me many places, and I am currently carrying a 40-book library when I do. There are more advantages, and I have barely scratched the surface myself. Disadvantages: I cannot share the books, so I often look for used copies to lend; I love books and miss them...

  5. I shop online when I know exactly what I want, but I prefer browsing the shelves of a bookstore. My last visit was only a couple of weeks ago and I managed to leave with only one book, Job: A Man of Heroic Endurance by Charles Swindoll. (Quite an accomplishment!)
