This Week in the Book World

Upcoming:

Carolyn See has agreed to an interview, which we'll hopefully feature during them month of June.

Rebeca Seitz is attending BEA and is part of a panel there. She promises to write a post about what she sees and experiences.

If you want to read about what's going on there now, check out the Book Maven's blog:

If you'd like to read (yet another morbid) report about how book sales are on the decline, check out this article:
http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D8PG2PBO0.htm

For something more uplifting, the San Antonio Business Journal has an article about a man whose fiction made him a best-seller. I particularly like the "onslaught" of rejections he received before getting a yes. [Click Here] to read his article.

Month of June:

June 9-10th is the Printer's Row Book Fair in Chicago:

Scribbles from the Blue Ridge Mountain Writer's Conference:

Our sometimes Sunday devotional writer, (and good friend), Cindy Sproles is pictured here with conference coordinator, Yvonne Lehman. Cindy won 1st place in the novel portion of the conference. We're so proud of her!

Yvonne did an amazing job as always. She was sweet and her funny and quirky self. The conference just gets better and better.

Pictured here are: Gina Holmes, Eva Marie Everson (The Potluck Club), Deb Raney (Remember to Forget) and Ane Mulligan. Deb and Eva are regular instructors at the conference and always do a fabulous job.

Ray Blackston, (Flabbergasted), got his start at the BRMWC. Ane and I cornered him for a picture. We took a class Jim Bell (James Scott Bell) taught, which was fabulosa. The highlight though was hanging out with some of our favorite people in the CBA, like Chip MacGregor, Alton Gansky, Janet and Ron Benrey.
Gina, Ane, Cindy and friend Chris Egbert stayed up late in our rocking chairs, enjoying the fresh mountain air, telling stupid jokes and laughing way too loud. (We learned that vacuum is a curse word in Apalachea, (ask Cindy about this one.)
If you live in the South East, you may want to check this conference out next year.

We had a blast, didn't we? And it was fun to finally meet up with Chris Egbert, our very first mentor.
