Five Inspirational Truths for Authors

S'up Saturday

Next week, interview with John Desjarlais, award winning screenwriter and novelist...and TED DEKKER!

I actually have Ted Dekker's phone number on my caller id. I think I'll leave it up awhile.

The interview went well. We talked for about an hour. He asked about me, said my blog was cool. His voice reminded me of Keanu Reeves and he was articulate, gracious and funny.

He has very definite opinions on the label "Christian Fiction" that you won't want to miss.

I had a ton of questions prepared and got to very few. Mr. Dekker gets very passionate about certain subjects and has much to say.

Some of the interview was cut to either not give away things I shouldn't have asked (E for effort) or to not bore you when he asks about me and that type of thing.

This upcoming week, we'll also be reviewing Creston Mapes', Dark Star as I'm nearly finished.

We'll be doing a lot more book reviews actually. I have every able eyed critique partner, who is willing, with one or more books to review.

If you like free books and want to be a book reviewer for
Novel Journey, please email Gina (email from blogger profile) and we'll talk.

In the weeks to come we'll also be reviewing, Brandilyn Collins' Web of Lies, Ted Dekker's Showdown, A Table by the Window, Athol Dickson's River Rising, Donna Fleisher's Wounded Healer, Landon Snow and the Auctor's Riddle, and others.

Novel Journey's Contest Winners:
Linda Windsor's 2 book give away: Cara Putman
B.J. Hoff's Give away:Lynetta
(Please e-mail Gina your mailing address and I'll pass your info on to the authors. Congratulations!!

  2. How cool is that? I got a shout out from one my favorite websites. Keep up the great work, Gina.

And tell your pal Mike D. to hurry up and sell a manuscript so I can read his interview. Which begs another question...who gets to interview you when the time comes?

  3. Thanks CJ, me too!
Mike, I have no doubt Mike,"the gatekeeper", Duran will be giving Dekker a run for his money sooner rather than later. I'd probably choose to have him interview me when the time comes but A. He'll probably be at some convention as key note speaker and B. I'd probably need a defense attorney to advise me on answering his questions. :)

  4. Great week coming up, Gina. Only you could capture an interview with Ted Dekker. But as to interviewing you, I'm going to have to collaborate with Mike on that - after all, I've roomed with you at conferences and know the real you! LOL

  5. You can interview me Ane. Its a deal. With Mike I'd be saying, heh? As I frantically flip through my dictionary. You do know the real me and so you'd better steer clear of the real me questions.

ANE: Is it true that you wake up at 4 am and start getting dressed?
    GINA: you know it is.
ANE: and is it true that you hog all counter space with your make-up, curling irons, lotions, nailpolish.
GINA: I don't use all that stuff.
    ANE: LIAR!
    GINA: bursts out in tears.
ANE: Dry it up sister. Come to think of it, I've never spoken to you in person and not had you blubber. You unstable or what?
    GINA: sniff. sniff. Not really.
ANE: And do you or do you not throw yourself at every editor?
GINA: Throw myself is kinda over kill. I'm assertive.
ANE: Yeah, "Assertive" that's what you are. Puleeze!
ANE: tell everybody about the coffee trail you leave everywhere you go. Go ahead, slob, tell 'em!
    GINA: MIIIIIIKKKEEE!!

  8. That's it; I need a new author photo. The one my wife took of me (head shot) while I was sitting on the floor in the hallway...well, let's just say it doesn't make me look like a cool black panther segue-ing into darkness.

  9. Great stuff, Gina, as usual. Can't wait for next week!

  10. Randy, you and me both! I've come to the conclusion that when the time comes I'm hiring somebody to take some pictures of me that make me look cooler than I really am. Impressions are important in this business. Ted's picture just makes you know his stuff is going to be good.
    Dineen, Thanks!

  11. Wow! I'm so glad I'm taking a break from Christian Fiction Blog this week, to work on my WIP and review Landon Snow. Now I can just plug into you every day, and blogback every entry over there.

Yea, Mike D. can write his pen off. Can he?

Thanks for the Infuze mention. And I can't wait, wait, wait to take my crouching tiger, hidden angel picture in the future:)
